Finding a good graphic designer that truly embraces the design and technical
side of things is a rarity. Finding one whose knowledge overlaps both

Web Design
I give careful thought and consideration to the
impression your on-line presence will give. “Build it and they will
come”... yes, but – build it right and they will be more
likely to come back, and even refer their friends and associates. I don't just build your web site, I design your site in
the visual sense, as well as the structural and navigational. A web site
should be viewed in four ways:
- Presentation
- the impression your web site gives, the look, the feel, and the style
of your web site.
- Structure
- the html code and various technology your site will use, plus how
many pages and levels your site will have. In this area I take care
to create a site that is not only browser friendly, but user friendly.

Navigation - getting from one page to another, internal and external
links, how windows are used, menu's, sub-menus, directories and/or site
maps.
- Content
- the editorial or marketing, your words and pictures, graphics, logos,
etc.
All
four of these have to be crafted together for a web site to really work.
I will use my technical skills to create a structure
that is easy to navigate, and use my design skills to present
your content in the best way to get your message across, making
the difference to the success of your site.

Search Engine Optimization
Another area not to be overlooked in building a web site is Search Engine
Optimization (SEO). This is the process of adjusting the content,
coding, keywords and even design of your web site to achieve the best
rankings on the major search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

Print Design
Dedicated
Desktop Creative Services can take your next print project from concept
through design and production to final pre-press, or lay out and typeset
to your specifications. I work with my clients to develop ideas and
then creatively and technically make them happen! Over the years I ’ve
established great relationships with a number of printers, so rest assured
I can handle the job right to the end! My on-line portfolio
includes many samples of print design and production, from logo and stationery
design to posters and billboard displays!

Creative Direction and/or Training
Dedicated
Desktop Creative Services can also assist with your own in-house web design
and development or design and production. I have provided services to established
design studios, young ‘up and coming’ designers, as well as
individuals, private companies and government agencies with in-house graphics
departments. I can be brought in to provide creative direction and/or
training, or I can design templates from which you can build your web
site. I can also help to develop ideas and workable concepts and then
assist in creatively and technically making them happen!
Individual
or small group training is also available in a variety of Macintosh software
tools. Whether
you’re in the graphics industry or just want to become internet savvy
on your new iMac, learning from a Macintosh professional working in the
field of print and web design can really make the difference. I have been
involved in the graphics industry since 1985 and have been offering training
since 1990. I have taught and designed courses for Vancouver Community
College as well as the International Academy of Design and Technology
in Ottawa. Students and clients have included print shops, design studios,
government agencies and individuals looking to upgrade their computer
skills.
Training
is available in
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), Web Page Design, Graphic Creation and
Image Optimization for the Web, or basic Internet use, from surfing the
internet to making use of what’s out there. For print, training is available in Page Layout and Design, Graphic Creation and Image Editing, or more advanced computer pre-press. Get the training you
need, from an industry professional!
Need
help with a specific project? Call and ask about “Project Rescue”,
where you get professional consultation and custom training to complete
a specific project or on-going projects, knowing that the end result will
be all that you hoped it would be.

Custom Artwork and Image Editing
Dedicated
Desktop Creative Services can create custom artwork for your next web
or print project. Whether it’s technical illustrations, artistic renderings
or cartoons, I’ll apply my talent to the job. I can also provide
the photography and/or image editing that you may need to make your brochure work or add some life
to your web site. If it’s something I don’t do, I know someone
who does! If and when necessary Dedicated Desktop will bring in the right illustrator,
cartoonist or professional photographer to get the job done. Examples
of custom artwork and image editing can be found throughout my on-line portfolio. Specific pages have
been set up to show examples of image editing. You can also view some of my unedited photography.
